In the final seconds, unbridled joy erupted for Chelsea and caretaker boss Calum McFarlane as Enzo Fernández stabbed home a last-gasp equaliser. The goal left Pep Guardiola ranting in frustration and provided the stand-in Chelsea manager a career-defining moment. On paper, Guardiola versus McFarlane could be billed as the Premier League's greatest managerial mismatch, making the recollection of Fernández's crucial intervention one to warm the 40-year-old throughout his career.

A Stark Contrast in Pedigree

On the home bench stood the generation's pre-eminent figure, a man with an unparalleled CV for elite clubs Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City, overseeing his 1,012th match. In the opposite technical area, was a former coach at non-league sides Croydon and Whyteleafe, who had served in City's own academy and stepped up to make his senior managerial bow after being seconded from his regular role guiding Chelsea's youth teams.
